This purpose built sustainable eco holiday settlement can be found nestling in the 4.5 acres which adjoins the owners’ home and lies amidst the rugged and tranquil hills of the Northumberland National Park, within the hamlet of Lanehead. ’Tarset Tor’ has a stunning vista that extends to Kielder Forest and the border with neighbouring Scotland. It has a wetland and wooded meadow area to enhance and encourage flora, fauna and wildlife.
Each detached property is modern, light and airy and very versatile in that it can sleep up to a total of 30 guests.
There are 5 bothies (holiday homes) each sleeping 4 and the Bunkhouse that sleeps 10, the properties can be booked as a whole or separately. The development uses the latest in Eco-technology and is heated by pellet boilers with electricity subsidised by ’solar energy’. There is also an electric car charging point. The wooden structures are made from
sustainably sourced cedar and uses newspaper cavity wall insulation. The properties are located on the Reivers Cycle Route and it is a 5 mile pedal to nearby Kielder Water which is fast becoming a destination of choice for water sport enthusiasts, mountain bikers, nature lovers and has many
works of art, sculpture and scenic trails. The stunning landscape of the World Heritage Site, Hadrian’s Wall, is nearby along with excellent museums and exhibitions. Hexham, the classic abbey based Roman market town, and Corbridge, a lively, pretty historic town with boutique shopping and galleries.(20 Miles)
The bustling cities of Carlisle (40 Miles)with Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery which showcases a host of treasures from across time, plus Carlisle Castle; Newcastle(40 Miles)where there is shopping, dining and a thriving arts scene with The Sage and Baltic Centre for contemporary art, plus a classic view of the bridges across the Tyne
including the Millennium ‘blinking eye’. Close by (3 miles) is the small, quaint market town of Bellingham. Bellingham’s proximity to the North Tyne River makes it popular for fishing and in season you can watch the wild salmon leaping. There is also an excellent 18-hole golf course. There is a delightful walk along the side of the River Tarset to the local pub (1 mile) and a selection of shops in Bellingham.
